The Hotel des Arts opened a new door of ideas of hotel room accommodations. A few years ago the Hotel owner, Richard Singer, came out with the idea of renovating the rooms of his hotel. The hotel is situated in a busy downtown of San Francisco and very close to all city attractions. The owner analyzed different approaches of how to innovate the hotel and bring tourists to see the hotel innovation. But his final idea is what made the hotel's name in many reviews by national and international press, such as the New York Times newspaper, CBS news, San Francisco Chronicle, X-Funs Magazine from Taiwan , etc. The hotel has 53 rooms, including four suites. Each room was painted by artists from all origins and using different types of art medium. Materials used include wall-mounted vinyl records, plastic bags, graffiti, fabrics, three dimensional art work, and even installations. Each room is completely different from each other; the artists used their imagination and the freedom o paint everything. From walls to ceiling, nothing was left behind. In 2005 Regis was approached by the hotel owner to paint the last suite left at the hotel. Regis accepted the proposal and invited the artist Bloum to collaborate with him on this project. The artists used a mixed of two and three dimensional work in the rooms. The living room, is composed by a wall with labels from plastic bags from around the world. The artist Bloum [http://www.bloum.net], responsible for this wall, used the bags to overlay them in a form of transparency. There are many layers and layers of theses bags, forming many messages behind each layer. From Safeway, Walgreens, to international hotels, food stores and many other labels, can be found throughout her painted walls. Facing Bloum's wall there is wall painted by the artist Regis Silva [http://www.regissilva.com. The wall is painted as a red brick wall, with a big half circle window. There is a woman with curly hair, standing in the center of window. The entire wall is a two dimensional painting, with the exception of this woman standing on the window. This figure stature is bigger than a human size, and only the part a little bellow her bust can be seeing. Her face sticks out of the wall something around ten inches and her voluptuous breast around twelve inches. The background of the window is a image of a beach and the sea, and the whole window and personage were painted with a mixture of fabrics, and other materials. The other room is a bedroom with two queen beds, Regis and Bloum worked together in this room. They mixed their style in an elegant form, complementing each other work. It is a fusion of ideas that becomes one piece, making the mind think that it belong to one artist. The room is absolutely beautiful with its tone of color and sophisticated design. The wall behind of the beds is painted a bright tone of orange that is shiny like glitter. Right above the beds, there are bed headboard frames painted in a arch form on the walls, and inside those arches, Bloum's work. The opposite wall is a yellow wall with a big bluish painting with creatures that resemblance the sea, painted by Regis. And throughout the wall by Bloum using bags with labels of ''Target'' and the famous ''Thank You'' bags that we see all around. The bathroom also didnt scape the artists brushes, it is painted red and black with some distinctive symbols and babies doll sitting on top of the cabinet. Closets and doors were also painted. The entrance doors are painted with blue and siena colors; it is the resamblance of a landscape. One of the doors has work of Bloum, while the other door Regis made a three dimensional woman's bust and face. The entire room is not just a hotel room suite, but a beautiful piece of art that become the top three requested room at the hotel. National and international press has already covered this suite, such as X-Funs Magazine, from Taiwan , which gave the artists a ten pages articles, where they talk about the artists work and the mural done at the Hotel des Arts.
